Beyond the Wind: Embracing Sustainability Across All Fronts
Sustainability lies at the core of Endiprev’s mission, literally. As we celebrate Sustainability Day, let’s reflect on some of our initiatives over the past few years, showcasing our efforts to create a positive impact.
While we are known for our work in wind energy, our dedication to sustainability extends far beyond our primary field of expertise. It encompasses not only the wind-swept landscapes where we operate but also the offices where our daily endeavors take shape. Therefore, we’ve made a steadfast commitment to enhancing our sustainability efforts across the three crucial pillars of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance).
Taking care of the environment
We have been paying closer attention to our carbon footprint. It comes mostly from support activities, such as car rides to the wind farm, flying over to our next project’s destination, or meeting with our clients. And to reduce it, we need to know where we stand at our current consumption.
Our logistics management platform allows us to get insightful information about carbon emissions. In its partnership with sustainability-related projects, this platform has enabled us to offset our carbon expenditure. Through these collaborative efforts, we contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting reforestation, and fostering sustainable energy practices. This provides us with the tools to measure our carbon footprint and facilitates our participation in vital projects working tirelessly to protect our planet.
As deforestation remains one of the main issues of pollution, on Environment Day in 2021, we embarked on a tree-planting initiative at our Mortágua office. It felt like we were contributing to our own green space. But it also brought our office team together when the world was grappling with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As we watch those trees grow daily, they serve as a lasting reminder of our collective efforts and the power of coming together to create positive change. This action continues to inspire us and instill a deep sense of hope for a more sustainable future.
Sustainability is also social impact
We acknowledge that sustainability is not confined to environmental concerns alone. It also encompasses social responsibility, especially when it comes to education. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we donated some computers to children in Mortágua. That way they could participate in the online classes their school offered. This initiative underlines our dedication to ensuring that all children, regardless of their circumstances, have access to quality education and the opportunity for a brighter future.
Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond immediate local impacts, reaching out to the next generation. We are honored to be the official partners of Offshore Wind 4 Kids in Portugal. It is a pioneering program designed to educate young minds about renewable energy, particularly offshore wind energy. Through engaging in hands-on activities, we share our knowledge and expertise with aspiring environmental stewards. We aim to ignite their interest in environmental and sustainable careers, fostering the next generation of environmental leaders.
While our major initiatives are substantial, we understand that every small step towards sustainability counts. One such step involves giving back to the local community. Our ongoing commitment includes donating food and clothing items to local associations dedicated to helping people who need it most. This small yet impactful gesture exemplifies our dedication to creating a sustainable and compassionate community.
This day serves as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to protect our planet for this generation and the next ones. It encourages us to take meaningful actions, both individually and as a global community. It makes us reflect on the progress we’ve made, inspiring us to continue our journey toward a more sustainable, equitable, and thriving world.
