First wind farm commissioning in Brazil
Brazil joins the list of served countries. Endiprev is going to perform the first wind farm commissioning in the country.
Endiprev won a contract for our first wind farm commissioning in Northeast Brazil. The Riachão Wind Farm will have 54 ECO 122 wind turbines, of 2.7MW each. With this commissioning, the wind farm will have an installed capacity of 145.8 MW. That is enough energy to power approximately 370,000 Brazilian homes.
The Riachão Wind Farm project will increase the production of renewable energy in Rio Grande do Norte by 10%. Alstom chose the Endiprev team to be one of its partners in this project. Our team will start the activities there in July 2013, and it should begin operations in 2015.
The wind energy in Brazil has been constantly growing. By the end of 2012, the country had an installed capacity of more than 2.5 GW. The wind is a complementary source of energy with great potential since it is more intense from June to December, coinciding with the months of lower rainfall intensity. There have been a few programs created by the Brazilian Government to encourage the development of renewable sources.
The Riachão Wind Farm project is a great opportunity for our company to expand to other countries. That will be an excellent growth opportunity for our teams.
